Power train, automatic transmission, gear position indication (prndl)Jun 10, 2022
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.
A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.
Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S43.

Service brakes, hydraulic, pedals and linkagesJan 13, 2022
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 Mustang vehicles originally sold or ever registered, in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Hawaii. Exposure to certain environmental conditions, such as high temperatures, high humidity, and salt air can cause the brake pedal bumper to corrode and separate from the brake pedal.
A separated brake pedal bumper can cause the brake lights to illuminate continuously, causing confusion to other drivers and increasing the risk of a crash. On automatic transmission vehicles, a missing brake pedal bumper can allow the driver to shift the vehicle out of the "PARK" position without depressing the brake, allowing the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of injury.
Dealers will replace the brake pedal bumpers and clutch pedal bumpers, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on March 4, 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 13, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S02.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion, 2015 Mustang, 2013-2015 Escape and C-Max, 2012-2015 Focus, 2014-2016 Transit Connect, 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 MKC vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.
A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S30.

Road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.
If the bolts corrode, the steering gear motor may detach from the gear housing resulting in a loss of power steering assist, requiring a greater steering effort, especially at lower speeds, and increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gear motor bolts and apply a wax sealer. If any of the steering gear motor attachment bolts are broken or missing, a new steering gear will be installed in the vehicle. These repairs will be performed free of charge. In the event of a crash, heat from the deployment of a seat belt pretensioner may cause a front seat belt anchor cable to fail.
If the driver or front passenger seatbelt cables cannot properly restrain the front seat occupants, they would be at an increased risk of injury.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will apply a protective coating to the seat belt cable, free of charge. The recall began May 16, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16S42.

THE FIRST TIME I DROVE THIS CAR ON LESS THAN ONE INCH OF SNOW, IT SLID THROUGH TURN. I WAS DRIVING WEST ON HWY 30 AT AROUND 40 M.P.H., SLOWED AND ENTERED TURNING LANE TO TURN NORTH ONTO HWY 21. WHEN I BRAKE, CAR SLID SO I APPLIED BRAKES A LITTLE FIRMER. THE ABS WERE ACTIVE AND MAKING THE BING-BING-BING NOISE THEY MAKE, BUT CAR SLID THROUGH NORTHBOUND LANE, STOPPING FINALLY WITH CAR OVER YELLOW CENTER LINE OF SOUTHBOUND HWY 21 TRAFFIC. THANK GOD THERE WAS NO CAR SITTING AT THE INTERSECTION, BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE HIT THEIR DRIVER'S SIDE. I HAVE HAD ZIMMERMAN FORD IN CEDAR RAPIDS, IA LOOK AT MY BRAKES TWICE NOW, WITH NO RESOLUTION. I EVEN REPLACED TIRES AFTER THIS EVENT AND HAD ONE OF THEIR SERVICEMEN TELL ME THEY HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH HIS FUSION. HE TOO, REPLACED THE TIRES, WHICH HAD NO EFFECT. THE BRAKES GRAB WITH FORCE WHENEVER THEY GET MOISTURE ON THEM, FROM RAIN, DEW, OR SNOW. THE DEALER HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, BUT DON'T CARE. I FEEL I AM GOING TO DIE IN THIS CAR AND AM SCARED TO DEATH TO DRIVE IT IN ANOTHER IOWA WINTER, BUT HAVE NO CHOICE. THE TRACTION CONTROL SUCKS ALSO, THE CAR SPINS ON WET GRASS OR RAINY INTERSECTIONS, AND EVEN SHALLOW MUD PUDDLES. I FEEL THE BRAKES AND TRACTION CONTROL ON THESE FUSIONS REQUIRE INVESTIGATION BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE FROM THESE ISSUES. THANK YOU *TR

CAR DOOR LATCH UNEXPECTEDLY STOPPED WORKING. I PARKED AT A CONVIENT STORE AND CLOSED MY DOOR. MY DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED AND NOW I CAN NOT SECURE MY CAR, NOR CAN I SAFELY DRIVE THE VEHICLE.

COMPLETE ELECTRICAL POWER FAILURE DUE TO PERSISTENT DRAIN ON BATTERY. AFTER JUMPSTART, CAR WAS OPERATIONAL; HOWEVER, THERE IS INTERMITTENT FAILURE WHEN THE CAR IS NOT IN USE FOR 24 HOURS. INTERMITTENT HARD FAULT WITH DTC P0887 IN SOBDMC (SECONDARY ON BOARD DIAGNOSTICS MODEL C). BELOW ARE A SUBSET OF DTC CODES: DTC MODULE B10D7:87 BCM B1287:11 BCM P0887:00 SOBDM-C P1934:87 BCM P1A10:00 BCM U0140:00 PSCM U3001:00 BECM U3003:13 PSCM U3003:16 BECM U3003:16 BCM THERE IS LIMITED COVERAGE BY THE MANUFACTURE (POST 36K MILES) AND THE CONSUMER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EXTENSIVE DIAGNOSTICS AND REPAIR. THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PLUG IN HYBRID CAR AND THE CURRENT SERVICE MODEL ARE INCONSISTENT. THIS IS A BIGGER PROBLEM THAN MOST RECOGNIZE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE STEERING FAILED. THE STEERING ASSIST AND STABILIZER WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COMPUTER PROGRAMMING NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FUSION. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT THE GEAR SHIFTER TO THE DESIRED GEAR, THE VEHICLE JERKED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY LOOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING; HOWEVER, THE DETAILS OF THE DIAGNOSIS COULD NOT BE PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DIAGNOSIS FOR THE TRANSMISSION HAD NOT YET BEEN DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.

THE SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM WILL NOT ACTIVATE ONCE THE CAR GOES ABOVE 6 MPH. I HAVE HANDICAPPED SON WHO ACCIDENTALLY UNPLUGGED HIS SEAT BELT AND I HAD NOT INDICATION. NO CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED FUNCTIONS LIKE THIS REGARDING SEAT BELT WARNING.

WHILE DRIVING I HAD TOTAL LOSS OF POWER AND CAR SHUT OFF. IT HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN A TWO DAY SPAN. *TR
Power train, Engine, Dec 2, 2016
THE CAR WILL SHUT OFF (NO POWER, NO ENGINE) WHILE DRIVING. THIS OCCURS RANDOMLY AND HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO FORD - BUT THEY NEVER SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED IT. FORTUNATELY - IT HAS ALWAYS OCCURRED IN LIGHT TRAFFIC - BUT IT IS SCARY AND I FEAR IT WILL HAPPEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC SOMEDAY I MIGHT BE SERIOUSLY INJURED. *TR

STEERING BOLTS HAVE LOOSENED, RESULTING IN SOME LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING STRAIGHT ON A LEVEL HIGHWAY WHEN THIS OCCURRED. THIS IS A PERSISTENT STATE.

WAS DRIVING AT LOW SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN "STEERING ASSIST FAILURE PULL OVER SAFELY" LIGHT CAME ON AND POWER STEERING WENT OUT. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 57,000 MILES AND WE TOOK IT TO FORD FOR REPAIR AND THEY WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE ELECTRIC RACK ASSEMBLY DUE TO A SHORT IN THE GEAR BOX... *TR

I HAVE NOW HAD TO REPLACE MY BACKSEAT SEAT BELTS 3 TIMES, TWICE ON THE PASSENGER BACKSEAT AND ONCE ON THE DRIVER BACKSEAT. MIND YOU THESE ARE SEAT BELTS THAT DO NOT GET LATCHED AND UNLATCHED SEVERAL TIMES A DAY LIKE THE DRIVER SEAT, BUT THESE SEAT BELTS STAY LATCHED WITH A CAR SEAT SO THEY SHOULD NOT BE GETTING WORE OUT SO QUICK. ALSO THESE BELTS BROKE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, NO PRESSURE ON THEM. THIS IS EXTREMELY SCARY FOR ME ESPECIALLY SINCE MY TWO CHILDREN RIDE IN THESE SEATS DAILY AND THE SEAT BELTS BROKEN WITH OUT ANY PRESSURE. WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN IF I GET REAR ENDED BY SOMEONE GOING 50 MPH???? I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY ONLY WANTED TO DO 2 THINGS: CONTINUE TO REPLACE THE SEAT BELTS AS THE BREAK...REALLY, NEXT TIME IT COULD BE BROKE FROM A WRECK!! THE OTHER OPTION WAS TO TRADE MY CAR IN. FIRST OFF THEY DID NOT OFFERED ME NOWHERE NEAR WHAT I WOULD NEED, SECONDLY AND MOST IMPORTANT IF I TRADED IT IN I CAN ALMOST GUARANTEE THAT THEY WOULD TURN AROUND AND SELL IT TO SOMEONE ELSE. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL VEHICLES FROM FORD HECK MY HUSBAND USED TO WORK THERE, BUT I WAS EXTREMELY SURPRISED AND DISAPPOINTED IN THE LACK OF CARE OR WORRY FOR MY FAMILIES SAFETY IN THIS MATTER.

ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. CAR WOULD GO INTO LIMITED POWER MODE AND THEN WOULD CUT OFF RANDOMLY AND WITHOUT WARNING.

THERE IS A RECALL ON BOLTS HOLDING THE STEERING ASSEMBLY TOGETHER, AND THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY WENT IN MY 2 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD OVERALL SAY THAT BECAUSE THE BOLTS WERE FINE THEY AREN'T RESPONSIBLE FOR MY POWER STEERING NEEDING TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. THEY CAN'T TELL ME HOW THE STEERING WOULD GO IN A 2 YEAR OLD VEHICLE THAT IS DRIVEN TO WORK AND THE GROCERY STORE, NOT OFF-ROADING OR RACING. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, AND WAS STARTED AND IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THE POWER STEERING FAILED.
Engine, Nov 18, 2016
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FUSION. WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART, BUT BEGAN TO SHUDDER. THE FAILURE WAS PERSISTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.

I HAVE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF STEERING POWER WHILE GOING ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER PULLING OVER THE CAR LIGHT FLASHING SAYING "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC, AND STEERING LOSS STOP SAFELY" I WILL BE TAKING IT TO A REPAIR SHOP BUT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND MANY PROBLEMS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. NO RECALL FOUND?
