Power train, manual transmissionJun 9, 2026
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Focus and 2013-2016 Fusion vehicles previously repaired incorrectly under recall numbers 18V169 and 18V845. The clutch may fracture, resulting in damage to the transmission assembly and possibly a transmission fluid leak.
A transmission fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components can increase the risk of a fire.
Dealers will update the software, free of charge. Additionally, dealers will inspect Focus vehicles and replace the clutch assembly as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed August 5, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S43. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on July 6,2026.

Power train, automatic transmission, gear position indication (prndl)Jun 10, 2022
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.
A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.
Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S43.

Service brakes, hydraulic, pedals and linkagesJan 13, 2022
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 Mustang vehicles originally sold or ever registered, in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Hawaii. Exposure to certain environmental conditions, such as high temperatures, high humidity, and salt air can cause the brake pedal bumper to corrode and separate from the brake pedal.
A separated brake pedal bumper can cause the brake lights to illuminate continuously, causing confusion to other drivers and increasing the risk of a crash. On automatic transmission vehicles, a missing brake pedal bumper can allow the driver to shift the vehicle out of the "PARK" position without depressing the brake, allowing the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of injury.
Dealers will replace the brake pedal bumpers and clutch pedal bumpers, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on March 4, 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 13, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S02.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion, 2015 Mustang, 2013-2015 Escape and C-Max, 2012-2015 Focus, 2014-2016 Transit Connect, 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 MKC vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.
A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S30.

TOOK TO DEALER ON 5/30/16, DIAGNOSIS WAS VACUUM PUMP FAILURE, NEW PART WAS ORDERED. 7/5/16 GOT A CALL FROM DEALER SHOP MANAGER WHO BASICALLY SAID THE PART WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THERE WERE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE MOTOR BEHIND WHERE THE PUMP SITS, CLAIMING DIRTY OIL CAUSED PREMATURE ENGINE WEAR. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO VIEW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT. I COULD TELL BY SPINNING THE PUMP THAT THE BEARINGS HAD FAILED, MORE THAN LIKELY DISINTEGRATED AND THE SHAVINGS WERE SITTING INSIDE MY ENGINE. THE MANAGER ASKED THE MECHANIC IF THAT WERE POSSIBLE AND HE REPLIED YES. HE SAID HE REPLACED 3 RECENTLY WITH THE SAME ISSUE METAL SHAVINGS BEHIND PUMP. MY CAR WAS ALSO IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE MOST IRRITATING THING WAS BEING BLAMED FOR THE PROBLEM, HE STATED MY ENGINE WILL FAIL AND I SHOULD TRADE IT IN WHILE I WAS TALKING ON THE PHONE WITH HIM PRIOR TO GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS BLAMED AND HE USED SCARE TACTICS TO TRY AND GET ME TO MAKE A PURCHASE. NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN AT A FORD DEALER BEFORE. STILL WAITING FOR THE CALL SAYING MY CAR IS REPAIRED. THEN THEY CALLED AND SAID THEY WOULD NEED TO KEEP IT TILL THE NEXT DAY. WE CHOSE TO GO GET THE CAR AND TAKE IT BACK TODAY (3/22). THE SERVICE MGR. CALLED THIS MORNING LETTING ME KNOW THAT THE "WATER RUNNING SOUND" IS NORMAL IN THE 2014 MODEL. THEN HE STATED WITH A CHUCKLE THE SOUND IS "LIKE LITTLE ROACHES RUNNING AROUND IN THE DASHBOARD" AND HIS SERVICE TECH FOUND DOCUMENTATION ISSUED BY FORD ENGINEERING CONFIRMING THIS SOUND IS NORMAL. MIND YOU THIS PERSON IS A PROFESSIONAL....HE MAKES A COMMENT AS THIS! I LET HIM KNOW WE HAD PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 2007 FORD FUSION AND NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE. HE HAD NOTHING TO SAY. I FIND HIS COMMENT SOMEWHAT COMICAL BUT VERY INSULTING; AND I ASKED HIM TO EMAIL ME THE DOCUMENTATION. IMMEDIATELY I CALLED THE SALESMAN AND HE IS GOING TO CHECK INTO THIS FURTHER AND GET BACK TO ME. MEANTIME I HAVE FOUND ZILCH ABOUT THE ISSUE.

I PURCHASED THE FORD FOCUS IN JUNE OF 2014. I AM NOW 80 YEARS OLD AND THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE MY LAST CAR. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE IT BECAME OBVIOUS THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I EXPERIENCED STUTTERING ON ACCELERATION WHICH CAUSES AN UNSAFE CONDITION WHEN DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. AT TIMES, THE TRANSMISSION WILL SLIP. VERY FRIGHTENING WHEN THIS HAPPENS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO CAUSES THE CAR TO LURCH FORWARD ON DECELERATION. NEITHER DOES IT HOLD PROPERLY ON A HILL, AND IT CAN ALSO MAKE A GRINDING SOUND IN THE LOWER GEARS ON TAKE OFF. THESE CONDITIONS PRESENT A SAFETY THREAT BECAUSE IT AFFECTS MY ABILITY TO CONTROL THE CAR ON ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION. FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE 2010 AND HAS TAKEN NO ACTION TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION. IT APPEARS IT WOULD BE INCUMBENT ON THE SELLING DEALERSHIP TO DISCLOSE THIS DEFECT ON PURCHASE. I WAS FINALLY INFORMED OF THE PROBLEM AT THE FIRST SERVICE WHEN I COMPLAINED. THIS IS PURE AND SIMPLE NON DISCLOSURE WHICH IS ILLEGAL IN SALES OF ANY KIND. I HAVE HAD MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 5 TIMES COMPLAINING OF THE PROBLEM OF THIS PROBLEM AND EACH TIME THEY RUN SOME SOFTWARE WHICH USUALLY MAKES THE SITUATION WORSE OR CREATES AND ADDITIONAL PROBLEM. NOT ONLY IS THIS A SAFEY ISSUE, BUT IT HAS ALSO CREATED A LOSS OF VALUE FOR RESALE AND UNTOLD HOURS OF SITTING IN A SHOWROOM WHILE THE DEALERSHIP IS TRYING TO FIX WHAT CANNOT BE FIXED. I HAVE TRIED TO WORK WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH NO SUCCESS.

I WAS DRIVING AROUND WHEN ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE CAR LOST POWER TO THE ENGINE AND THERE WERE NO RPMS AND PRESSING GAS PEDAL DID NOT HELP. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE POWER BACK IN THE ENGINE WAS TO PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL THEN BACK IN DRIVE AT WHICH POINT THE CAR STUTTERED BUT AT LEAST I REGAINED POWER TO ACCELERATOR. THIS WAS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS AS IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEED AND THE CAR WAS NO LONGER IN MY CONTROL

SUDDEN POWER STEERING LOSS WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHILE DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE ON A HIGHWAY. ONLY WARNING WAS A MESSAGE SAYING POWER STEERING FAILURE PLEASE STOP SAFELY. LOST ALL ABILITY TO MANEUVER THE CAR SAFELY OR SAFELY TRANSITION OUT OF TRAFFIC. NEEDED EXCESSIVE STRENGTH TO ENABLE THE CAR TO TURN AND SAFELY EXIT ROADWAY.

I KEEP GETTING A SERIES OF WARNING INDICATORS; UP HILL ASSIST IS NOT AVAILABLE, SERVICE ADVANCE TRAK , NO POWER STEERING, NO TRACTION CONTROL, NO ABS, AND THE NO AIR BAG LIGHTS COME ON. THIS COMES ON WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL, LOW SPEED ON REGULAR ROADS, WHEN TURNING AND ALSO AT HIGHER SPEEDS WHEN DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAYS. THIS IS DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY BECAUSE MY POWER STEERING DOES NOT WORK! THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL!

MY 2014 FORD FUSION'S DOOR/WINDOW CONTROLS WILL STOP WORKING AND THE CLIMATE CONTROL WILL NOT WORK EITHER. IT OCCURS SPORADICALLY. I DO LIVE IN ARIZONA WHERE TEMPERATURES CAN GET EXCEEDINGLY HOT. I HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP (AS EARLY AS THE 2ND/3RD DAY OF OWNERSHIP) SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT ANY RESOLUTION. IT'S GOTTEN TO THE POINT THAT I PURCHASED A SPECIAL TOOL TO BREAK THE CAR WINDOW. THIS CAN CAUSE A DEATH. MY SON AND I WERE IN THIS PREDICAMENT WE COULDN'T DO ANYTHING WE STARTED TO SWEAT REALLY BAD AND GET RED. THANKFULLY I HAD WATER IN THE CAR. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES THE SYSTEM WOKE UP. I ROLLED THE WINDOWS DOWN AND PURCHASED THE WINDOW BREAKING TOOL. THIS HAS OCCURRED WHILE IN MOTION AND STATIONARY, ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS.
