Road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gear motor bolts and apply a wax sealer. If any of the steering gear motor attachment bolts are broken or missing, a new steering gear will be installed in the vehicle. These repairs will be performed free of charge. FORD FUSION SHIFTER CABLE RECALL: MY FAMILY AND I WERE ALMOST IN A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT ON 6/3/19 DUE TO THIS RECALL THAT I HAD NO CLUE ABOUT. I WAS REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT IN A BUSY SHOPPING STRIP AND MY CAR WOULDN'T SHIFT TO DRIVE. IT APPEARED TO SHIFT, I COULD MOVE THE GEAR BUT IT ACTUALLY DIDN'T SHIFT. IT KEPT REVERSING AND I ALMOST BACKED UP INTO A CAR. I IMMEDIATELY SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT GEARS AND NOTHING. I TRIED TO PUT IT IN PARK BUT NOTHING WORKED, IT KEPT REVERSING AND I ALMOST HIT A PEDESTRIAN. I SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES AGAIN, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND REMOVED THE KEYS. ONCE I REMOVED THE KEYS, I SHIFTED THE GEAR INTO PARK BUT MY CAR WAS STILL ROLLING BACKWARDS, NOT AS FAST BUT STILL ROLLING. MY HUSBAND AND MY 10 YEAR OLD SON HAD TO PUSH MY CAR INTO A SAFE AREA OF THE PARKING LOT. I IMMEDIATELY PUT THE EMERGENCY BRAKES ON AND GOT OUT. I THANK GOD ME NOR MY FAMILY OR A BYSTANDER WAS HURT OR INJURED DUE TO THIS ISSUE. THIS IS HORRIFIC. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY WARRANTY COMPANY, THEY ARRANGED FOR MY CAR TO BE TOWED TO THE NEAREST AUTO REPAIR SHOP. I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL ON 6/5/19 AND WAS SO SHOCKED AND COULDN'T BELIEVE IT. I CONTACTED PLANET FORD IN HUMBLE, TX AND THEY ARRANGED TO TOW MY CAR FROM THE AUTO REPAIR TO THEM. MY CAR IS CURRENTLY AT PLANET FORD AND THEY ARE STATING THEY DON'T HAVE AN ACTUAL FIX YET AND THAT THEY CAN PROVIDE A TEMPORARY FIX WHICH I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET $700 SOMETHING. I ASKED MULTIPLE TIMES FOR A LOANER AND THEIR RESPONSE IS "FORD WILL NOT COVER IT". I HAVE CONTACTED FORD CORPORATION 4 TIMES AND THEY'VE BEEN NO HELP AT ALL, EACH AGENT TELLS ME SOMETHING DIFFERENT. THEY ARE BLAMING THE DEALER AND THE DEALER IS BLAMING THEM. I HAVE MISSED WORK SINCE 6/4/19 AND HAVE A LOSS OF INCOME DUE TO THIS. I'M VERY DISTURBED THAT THEY'RE NOT WILING TO ASSIST AND MORE SO THAT THEY HAVE NO DATE.

WHILE IN MOTION (65 MPH) THE VEHICLES ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ENTER AN EMERGENCY MODE IN WHICH THE RPMS WERE FIXED AT APPROXIMATELY 1.2K. THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE WAS LOST COMPLETELY AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE COASTED OFF OF THE HIGHWAY. AN IMMEDIATE RESTART OF THE ENGINE DID NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE, BUT AFTER LEAVING THE VEHICLE OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED, ALLOWING FOR FULL USE OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER THE INCIDENT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY HAD "FAILED" AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I KNOW THAT FORD HAS HAD AN ISSUE ON OLDER YEAR THROTTLE BODIES AND THAT A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THOSE. I AM HOPING THAT THESE NEWER VEHICLES WILL BE LOOKED AT, AND IF THE ISSUE IS STILL PREVALENT THE RECALL CHANGED TO INCLUDE THEM.

THE BUSHING THAT ATTACHES TO THE SHIFTER CABLE BROKE FROM THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH MADE MY CAR APPEAR TO BE IN PARK, HOWEVER, IT WAS NOT. I WAS PUMPING GAS, WHEN I WAS DONE, I TURNED MY CAR ON AND WENT TO TAKE IT OUT OF PARK AND IT WOULD NOT MOVE, SHOWING MY CAR WAS IN ANOTHER GEAR, WHICH CAUSED MY CAR TO ROLL FORWARD ALMOST SLAMMING INTO THE GAS STATION. THE PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT APPLIED UNTIL AFTER THIS HAPPENED. THIS LEFT US STRANDED FOR OVER 8 HOURS IN SNOW, MY CAR WAS NOT TOWED UNTIL THE NEXT DAY. IT TOOK UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING FOR FORD TO HELP WITH TOWING, I WAS TOLD I WAS OUT OF LUCK BASICALLY BECAUSE OF OTHER WRECKS. I THEN HAD A TOWING BILL TO PAY FOR. I ALSO HAVE A BILL FOR REPAIRS THAT I HAVE REFUSED TO PAY BECAUSE OF THE RECALL (THEY SAID MY CAR WAS NOT ON THE LIST, ONE MECHANIC SAYS HE KNOWS MINE SHOULD BE BECAUSE THIS IS A HUGE KNOWN ISSUE). I CALLED THE HOTLINE AND DID NOT GET ANYWHERE, THEY WERE RUDE. I WAS ADVISED IF THIS HIT THE RECALL LIST, THEN I WOULD BE REIMBURSED. HOWEVER, PRIOR TO THIS AND STILL, WHEN YOU TOUCH THE BRAKES, THERE IS A NOISE IN THE SHIFTER, WHICH HAS BEEN REPAIRED A FEW TIMES, THEN I'M TOLD THERE IS NO PERMANENT FIX FOR IT, IT WILL KEEP DOING THIS AFTER EVERY REPAIR. WHY? I FEEL UNSAFE FOR MY CHILDREN AND MYSELF IN THIS CAR, GRANTED I LOVE THE FORD FUSION COMFORT AND HOW IT RIDES SMOOTH. NOT ONLY HAVE I HAD THESE ISSUES, I'VE PUT 3 SETS OF BRAND NEW TIRES ON IT, YET EVERY TIME I'M TOLD THERE IS NO ISSUE WITH THE ALIGNMENT OR ANYTHING. I SHOULD NOT NEED NEW TIRES AFTER 10,000 MILES! IF I COULD TRADE THIS IN, I WOULD BECAUSE IT'S PUT ME IN DEBT WITH 3 SETS OF TIRES AND TOWINGS.
