Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. THE DISPLAY SHOWED THE SAFETY FEATURES BECOMING DEACTIVATED. SOMETHING NEW THOUGH, THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT AND THE CONSOLE DIMMED AND WAS BARELY READABLE, I TURNED ON MY HAZARDS AND I HOPE THEY WHERE WORKING, EITHER WAY I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO AVOID A REAR END COLLISION AND GOT THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. THIS ABOUT 7TH TIME FORD WILL WORK ON THE VEHICLE, AND ANOTHER WEEK OR MORE WITHOUT A VEHICLE, WAITING FOR THE NEXT AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT. THESE FUSIONS ARE BECOMING THE NEW FORD PINTO. I REALLY HOPE THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE DON'T HAVE TO DIE, BEFORE FORD IS FORCED TO RECALL THESE DEATH TRAPS.

WHEN I PUT GAS IN THE CAR, IT IS VERY HARD TO START. I HAVE TO PUMP THE GAS AND THEN REV THE ENGINE TO GET IT TO STAY ON. IF I LEAVE IT IN PARK, WITHOUT REVING THE ENGINE, IT WILL STALL OUT. ONCE I GET IT INTO DRIVE AND START MOVING, THE PROBLEM SUBSIDES. THE ONLY OTHER TIME I NOTICE IT, IS IF I AM IDLING ON A HILL. AT THAT POINT, IT WILL STALL WITHOUT CONSTANT FEATHERING OF THE GAS PEDAL. THIS SEEMS TO BE CONSISTENT WITH THE CURRENT RECALL ON SOME OF THE 2016 FORD FUSIONS, BUT MY VIN DOESNT APPEAR ON THE RECALL.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE MAIN SCREEN IN THE CENTER OF THE DASHBOARD TURNED OFF AND HAD THE MESSAGE 'TURNING OFF SYSTEM TO SAVE BATTERY'. THIS WAS NOT AN ACCURATE PROJECTION BY THE CAR SYSTEM BEING THAT I JUST RECENTLY INSTALLED A BRAND NEW BATTERY A COUPLE OF DAYS PRIOR. AS THE CAR SYSTEM CONTINUED TO SHUT DOWN, THE ALERT OF 'SYSTEM CHARGING SERVICE NOW' SHOWED UP ON THE DASH. FOLLOWING THAT MESSAGE THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. SHORTLY THERE AFTER, THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUT DOWN IN MY CAR. LIGHTS, STEERING, DASHBOARD, ELECTRONIC SEATS, DOORS, GEAR SHIFT, EVERYTHING! THIS ALL HAPPENED IN THE SPAN OF 1 MINUTE OR SO ON A HIGHWAY AT 11PM AT NIGHT. I ALMOST GOT INTO AN INESCAPABLE ACCCIDENT TRYING TO FIND SOMEWHERE TO GET THE CAR OFF THE HIGHWAY. SHORTLY THERE AFTER THE ENGINE ALSO CUT OFF DUE TO NOT GETTING ANY POWER FROM THE CAR SYSTEM. THIS IS VERY UNFORTUNATE BECAUSE THIS CAR IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD AND I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW OFF THE LOT.

MY TRANSMISSION CABLE CAME OFF DUE TO PLASTIC BUSHING, THAT ATTACHES CABLE END TO TRANSMISSION SHIFTER ARM IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT. PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: FORD MOTOR COMPANY (FORD) IS RECALLING CERTAIN 2013-2014 FORD ESCAPE, AND 2013-2016 FORD FUSION VEHICLES, EQUIPPED WITH SIX- SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. THE BUSHING THAT ATTACHES THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION MAY DEGRADE OVER TIME AND CAUSE THE BUSHING TO DETACH FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONDITION COULD ALLOW THE DRIVER TO MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER TO PARK AND REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY, WHILE THE TRANSMISSION MAY NOT BE IN PARK, WITH NO WARNING MESSAGE OR AUDIBLE CHIME. THIS ISSUE IS LISTED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 18V-471 BUT MY VEHICLES INDIVIDUAL VIN ISN'T LISTED IN THE RECAL ALONG WITH OTHER 2016 FORD FUSIONS LISTED IN THE RECALL.
Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Oct 15, 2018
AFTER PUMPING GAS MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. AFTER WAITING AND TRYING FOR 10 MINUTES THE VEHICLE STARTED. ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER WHILE DRIVING A LOUD NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF MY VEHICLE AFTER PULLING OVER I REALIZED IT WAS COMING FROM MY GAS TANK TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THAT THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD THAT BEFORE BUT THEY KNEW HOW TO STOP THE NOISE. WHILE DRIVING AND AT A STOP LIGHT MY VEHICLE JUST SHUT OFF WITH NO VEHICLES BEHIND ME, II PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND IT WENT IN REVERSE AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL MY VEHICLE CLOSER TO THE CURB. COUPLE DAYS LATER MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CODE WAS FOR A CANISTER PURGE VALVE. I SEE FORD HAD A RECALL IN 2015 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE PREVIOUS MODELS. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE I JUST PURCHASED MY VEHICLE ON MARCH 31, 2016 AND THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM WAS NOT HELPFUL AND FORD DID NOTHING.

WHEN I STARTED THE CAR MULTIPLE ALARMS SOUNDED AND THE DISPLAY SHOWED THE FOLLOWING ERRORS: STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED, SERVICE ADVANCETRAC, PRE-COLLISSION ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE, HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE. THE CAR HAS 13514.1 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AT THE TIME OF THIS OCCURRENCE. THE CAR HAD BEEN DRIVEN LESS THAN 10 MILES EARLIER IN THE DAY BUT HAD BEEN PARKED WITH THE ENGINE OFF FOR NEARLY 8 HOURS. I DID NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE DIFFICULT, IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE, CHORE OF TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IT SEVERAL TIMES ATTEMPTING TO SEE IF THE FAULTS WOULD CLEAR ON THEIR OWN. NO LUCK.

WHEN I WAS LEASING THIS VEHICLE THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM ASSAULT LIGHT STARTED COMING ON THEN PIWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING AND I HAD NO POWER STEERING AT ALL. MY TRANSMISSION ALSO FAILED. FORD DEALER REFUSED TO FIX IT BECAUSE I WAS OVER THE LEASE MILEAGE. I WAS SENT HOME WITH THE CAR WITHOUT POWER STEERING AND IN NEED OF TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME TO PAY THE 3.000 TO FIX IT BECAUSE I WAS RISKING MY LIFE. THE MANAGER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO UNDER THE LEASE WARRANTY. BUT IT WAS A LEASE AND I DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY FOR REPAIRS. I LATER DISCOVERED 5 RECALLS FOR THE CAR. I WAS ONLY NOTIFIED OF TWO, STEERING AND TRANSMISSION. THIS WAS IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS WHEN I NO LONGER HAVE THE CAR. . ACCIDENTS OCCURRED BEFORE THE STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED. BOTH INVOLVED THE CAR MOVING WITHOUT ACCELERATING. IT WAS ON A TOWN STREET AT A LIGHT BOTH TIMES. I WAS BEHIND ANOTHER CAR BOTH TIMES AS WELL. MY CAR INSURANCE HAS GONE UP BECAUSE OF THESE ACCIDENTS AND I HAVE SEVERE BACK PAIN FROM DRIVING ALL THOSE MONTHS WITH NO POWER STEERING. BUT I HAD NO CHOICE AS A SINGLE MOTHER WORKING MANY DIFFERENT LOCATIONS REQUIRING DAILY TRAVEL. ALSO, I HAVE TO LOOK BACK FOR THE CORRECT DATE OF WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR FOR SERVICE AND WAS REFUSED REPAIRS BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP MECHANIC DEPARTMENT WHERE I LEASED IT, EVEN THOUGH THE ISSUES WERE CAR DEFECTS. THEREFORE, I ENTERED JANUARY OF 2017, SINCE IT WAS EITHER DURING 2016 OR BEGINNING OF 2017 THAT THESE ISSUES SURFACED. ALSO, ONE OF THESE ACCIDENTS WHERE THE CAR MOVED WITHOUT ACCELERATING DID MOT INVOLVE A POLICE REPORT, ONLY THE EXCHANGE OF INSURANCE INFORMATION. THE CAR SPEED IS NOT SAVING IN THE BOX BELOW. I WAS COMING TO A STOP IN ONE ACCIDENT AND WAS STOPPED COMPLETELY DURING ANOTHER. THIS IS MY BEST RECALL OF THE INFORMATION.
